Privacy Policy

The short version: ThisVidSave.com doesn't ask who you are, doesn't run ads, and doesn't keep the videos you download. If you accept the cookie banner, it uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies, to count visits; if you reject it, Analytics never loads. The rest of this page explains what that means in detail.

What we collect

We don't have accounts or sign-up forms, so we don't collect names, email addresses or passwords. What does pass through our systems when you use the site:

• The ThisVid link you paste. It's sent to our server so it can look up the video's title, thumbnail and available qualities. We don't write these links to a database or a log of our own. The result of a lookup is held in a temporary cache for about 10 minutes so repeat requests are quicker, then it's dropped.
• Your IP address. Our server host, Cloudflare, uses it to rate-limit requests so one person can't overload the service. It also appears in the standard technical logs any web host keeps. We don't use it to identify you or build a profile.
• Download requests. When you press a Download button, the file is fetched from ThisVid and streamed to your device. We don't store it, and we don't keep a record of what you downloaded.

Cookies and local storage

We don't set cookies ourselves. Google Analytics does, but only after you press Accept in the cookie banner (see below). To remember your answer, your browser's local storage keeps one entry, tvs-consent, set to "granted" or "denied"; it isn't sent to us or anyone else, and nothing else about you is stored there. If you use the site as an installed app or visit it more than once, your browser also keeps a copy of the site's own files (page, styles, icons) so it loads faster and shows an offline message. That cache holds nothing about you.

Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics (Google tag) to see how many people visit and which pages they open. On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept Analytics cookies. Until you press Accept, Google's script is not loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google; if you press Reject, it stays that way. You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page: withdrawing consent stops Analytics and deletes its cookies. Once you accept, Google's script runs in your browser and sets cookies (named like _ga). We set Google's consent mode so that advertising storage and ad personalisation are always off. It sends Google the page you viewed, the referring site, your browser and device type, your approximate location and a random identifier, and Google also receives your IP address as part of the request. We see only combined statistics, not who you are. We cut the query string off the page address before it's sent, so a link you share to the site isn't passed to Google. We don't run ads. Google acts as our service provider here, and its own explanation of how it uses data applies. Rejecting in the banner is enough not to be counted; Google's opt-out add-on works too. The tool works the same either way.

Who else is involved

• Google provides the Analytics service described above, only if you accept it.
• Cloudflare hosts the website and the API that does the lookups and downloads. Cloudflare processes traffic on our behalf, and its own privacy policy applies to that processing.
• ThisVid receives the requests our server makes to fetch the video. The small preview image in your results is loaded by your browser directly from ThisVid's image servers, so they can see that request the way any website sees a visitor.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with anyone beyond the services named on this page.

Age

ThisVid is a site for adults, and so is this tool. ThisVidSave.com is not intended for anyone under 18.

Your choices

You can accept or reject Analytics cookies, and change that choice whenever you like, under "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page. We don't keep a profile about you, so there's nothing for us to delete or export; Analytics data is held by Google in aggregate form. If you'd like to ask something about your privacy anyway, or you think we've got something wrong, write to[email protected] and we'll answer.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Small wording fixes won't change the date.
